FILW passed a new proposal to redefine "miners" as "ecological rulers"
Recently, Filecoin of the IPFS incentive layer and FILW of the governance layer have successively passed the renaming proposals. Filecoin Improvement Proposal FIP-18 changes "miner" to "storage provider", FILW's new proposal also redefines "miner" as "ecological governor", and other related terms are also changed accordingly.
On the one hand, the name change is to cope with global regulation and avoid unnecessary troubles, but it is more for future long-term development considerations. According to reports, renaming has at least the following benefits:
1. It can better connect storage clients and ecological governors.
Companies and other Web2 members that store data on the FILW network are often unfamiliar with related encryption concepts. Therefore, the concept of "miners" may lead to loss of customers and prevent potential customers from truly understanding the value of FILW. The term "miner" is synonymous with extended BTC and ETH mining. Current global regulatory policies are not friendly to "mining";
2. It conveys the usefulness of the web
The difference between FILW and other blockchains is that it provides a decentralized network that stores useful data in a distributed manner, and because of its unique features, it drives incremental value. Therefore, it is very important to convey and market these useful attributes through simple terms that Internet members can easily recognize.
3. FILW is positioned as the ruler of the Web3 field
The FILW ecological governor can provide a brand-new governance solution for the distributed storage industry, thereby promoting the progress of the entire WEB3.0 era. With the development of the FILW network ecology, FILW ecological governors can provide governance support for storage areas such as NFT, Web3 data sets, and Web2.0 archives.
